Use of amnion (lining of the baby in the womb, which has many healing qualities) to treat a variety of conditions of the cornea as a sole treatment or in combination with others.

The amniotic membrane is harvested, processed and stored by the UK Eye Banks. A vacuum dried version is also available (Omnigen by NuVision). This tissue is used by itself or as part of other operations such as stem cell transplant and corneal transplant. Professor Harminder Dua has pioneered techniques related to use of amnion and is joint patent holder for the drying process of Omnigen.
